Includes information from Helen Harrell an Odum researcher:

Barnwell Co., SC:

In 1816, Arthur (X) Connaway requested and was granted the administration of Owen Odom, Sr . Owen Odom is shown on several censuses -- from 1790 to 1810 -- with males and females living in his household. It appears that they might be his sons and daughters. The estate settlement and final accounting by Arthur (X) Connaway does not name Odom heirs.

Arthur (X) Connaway asked to be and was named Administrator of the Est. of Owen Odom, Sr. Was he a relative or in-law? Connaway, Adam McCreary, and Jonathan Jowers posted bond.

Adam McCreary left Barnwell 1820/1821 and moved to Conecuh Co AL

Jonathan Jowers - one Jonathan Jowers moved to GA.

Appraisers: John Riley, Silas Stevens, Michael Odom, Owen Odom Junr., and Nathaniel Powell.

In the Final Accounting: 1817

Ashea Hutson - no further info yet found. Many Hutsons in Barnwell.

Daniel Odom - which one of the many Daniels?

John Allred - found this brief note:

In 1790, Owen had 1 son over 16

In 1800, he had a male under 10 and a female under 10. [The son of 1790 would be over 26.]

In 1810, Owen had 3 males and 2 females still at home. ( 1 1 1 0 1 and 1 1 0 0 1 )

Owen died in 1816, his wife Mary died a year or two earlier. With 5 or 6 children, there should have been heirs.

Since Arthur Connaway received a land grant in 1771, he had to be of adult age then -- hence, born by 1750 or so. It is apparent that the Arthur Connoway on the 1820 and 1830 censuses is a much younger man.
